Boston Collegiate Charter School is in the process of developing their first Teaching Fellow position and will have final confirmation of the role in the coming weeks. The teaching fellow will be placed at either their middle or high school location and paired with a master teacher who will provide consistent observations, coaching, and feedback throughout the school year. GT alumni are also welcome to apply for lead teacher positions as they become available in Spring 2018.

Boston Prep

Boston Prep offers paid, full time substitute and paraprofessional positions each academic school year that often lead to full time classroom teacher positions. Individuals in both positions participate in weekly, whole-school professional development and 1-on-1 coaching. Staff members are paired with a coach that observes them regularly, provides written feedback, and meets with them weekly. GT Alumni are also welcome to apply for lead classroom positions following graduation.  

Salary: 35-38K, benefits

Teaching Fellow

Teaching fellows serve as assistant teachers in K1 - 6th grade classrooms, helping to individualize curriculum and lead the after-school enrichment program. Bridge Boston is a comprehensive, full-service school dedicated to meeting the needs of traditionally underserved children in Boston. All fellows are mentored by master teachers who are committed to collaboration and mutual learning. The teaching fellowship is a two year commitment with the option to pursue a masters in education in the second year.

Average salary: $500 monthly stipend, free housing and housing expenses, food allowance and meals, health insurance, AmeriCorps Educational Award of ~ $5,850 (pending funding)

ASSOCIATE TEACHER PROGRAM

The Associate Teaching Corps is building a team of urban educators committed to closing the achievement gap. Associate Teachers complete, year-long paid apprenticeships in teaching. Throughout the year, Associate Teachers participate in targeted professional development and co-planning sessions, slowly taking on more and more classroom responsibilities. They provide one-on-one tutoring; serve as scholar advisors; help with lesson planning and curriculum preparation; and ultimately lead their own classes and lessons. After a year of mentorship, most Associate Teachers are ready to become full-time teachers at one of four Brooke schools. As of September 2017, eight GT alumni have placed at Brooke, 2 are currently lead teaching.

Average salary: $35K, benefits, eligible for additional $15K scholarship

TEACHING FELLOW

Teaching Fellows are aspiring teachers who are committed to learning the craft of teaching through professional development, coaching, and hands-on practice. Teaching Fellows spend each day teaching and learning alongside an experienced Lead Teacher, with the goal of becoming a KIPP: Massachusetts Lead Teacher within 1-2 years. Teaching Fellows develop through personalized instructional coaching and differentiated professional development on academics, character, and school and classroom culture. Teaching Fellows practice small-group and whole-group classroom management and gradually assume responsibilities for planning and teaching lessons. As of September 2017, five GT alumni have placed at KIPP, one is currently lead teaching.

Average salary: $37K, benefits, MA Initial Teaching License, master's degree in teaching

MATCH EDUCATION

TEACHER RESIDENCY

Match Teacher Residency is a two-year teacher-training program leading to licensure and a master's degree from the Sposato Graduate School of Education and Match Charter Public School. The program prepares residents to be effective rookie teachers in high-performing, urban schools. As full-time Match Corps members, first-year residents attend graduate school and participate in simulated and student teaching sessions, receiving individual feedback. In their second year, residents find placements in high-performing, urban schools in Boston or nationally, complete distance-learning classes, and receive additional coaching. As of September 2017, one GT alumnae has placed at Match.

Average salary: $15K stipend, AmeriCorps education award upon completion of service year; $9K tuition for master's degree is not charged until resident has a full-time teaching role

ASSOCIATE TEACHER

The Match Associate Teacher Program is a program for teacher candidates with 0-1 years of teaching experience. Match Associate Teachers (MATs) are placed on grade-level (K-5th) or subject level (6th-12th) teams in Match Public Charter Schools for an intensive, year-long apprenticeship. Throughout the year, our associate teachers are coached and mentored by leaders and teachers at Match and slowly take on more classroom responsibilities. MATs are also enrolled in the Sposato Graduate School of Education (SGSE) during their associate year to improve their teaching and planning expertise with the goal of becoming lead teachers in Match schools the following year. 

Average salary: $30K, benefits, teacher certification, job placement assistance

MATCH CORPS

The Match Corps is a one-year AmeriCorps volunteer service program. Corps members tutor small groups of students daily, providing academic remediation, extension, and mentoring.
